How to Apply for Umuzi Academy Learnerships

The Umuzi Academy is a division of Umuzi Photo Club, a MICT SETA accredited training provider. Each year, the Umuzi Academy provide learnership opportunities for deserving students, with their goal being to develop creative professionals in the next generation. ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP

The learnership programme runs over the course of 12 months, of which 9 months are spent at Umuzi doing on-the-job training and 3 months are spent working at a partner creative agency or media house. The end product of the learnership is a high-calibre, entry-level professional.

There is no fee involved with joining the learnership, however students do receive a R1500 to R2000 monthly stipend

Successful candidates will receive a National Certificate in Advertising (NQF level-5 qualification) upon completion of the programme. Whatmore, around 80% of candidates secure a job at a top creative company before graduation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Clear criminal record
  • Passionate about a career in the creative field
  • In possession of a portfolio of your works showing your creative skills

HOW TO APPLY

You will be required to fill in an online form with the following details: your full name, email address, cellphone number, a password, your selected department (Copywriting/ Digital Marketing/ Graphic Design/ Multimedia/ Traffic Management) and your city (Cape Town or Johannesburg).

Once you have completed the online form, you will be required to login with your email address and selected password. You will then completed your online profile with the following details:

  • Curriculum Vitae – all details must be filled in on the system including: personal details, education history, working experience, skills, past achievements, interests and contactable references
  • Portfolio of your works
  • A test based on your selected department
  • An aptitude test

Those who pass the initial application process are invited to partake in a week long bootcamp for on-the-job assessment.
