What are learnerships?

Learnerships are structured learning programmes that allow you to get the best of both worlds by combining both theoretical and practical elements. These courses run in partnership with various FET Colleges and lead to a qualification that is registered on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Currently we offer occupational learning programmes in the following areas (these may vary based on business needs):

  • Process trainees, and
  • Repairmen.

Terms and conditions

Our learnerships are regulated by a formal contract (learnership agreement) between an employer, a learner and a training provider.

An employer can enter into learnership agreements with existing employees or with learners who are not employees. If the employer enters into a learnership agreement with a learner who is not an employee the employer is not obliged to employ the learner when the learnership ends.

Learnerships are governed by the Skills Development Act (Act 97 of 1998), and are line with the policies and procedures of the Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs).
