Engen was founded in 1881 – today they are an oil company whose focus is on downstream refined petroleum products. ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP

The Engen learnership/ apprenticeship programme allows students the opportunity to gain experience and qualify as artisans in one of the following fields:

  • Electrical
  • Fitting
  • Instrumentation

Learners who complete the programme will receive a Trade Test Certificate in their chosen trade.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Candidates interested in applying for this learnership position should ensure that they meet the following criteria – failure to meet ALL of these requirements will result in your application being denied.

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Passed Science in Matric
  • Passed Mathematics in Matric
  • Good command of English (verbal and written)
  • Interested in maintenance activities in relevant trade
  • Have an aptitude for one of the above mentioned trades
  • Have a basic understanding of the importance of maintenance and refinery process
  • In possession of a code 8 driver’s licence (advantageous but not essential)
  • Completed an N2 qualification in Electrical/ Fitting/ Instrumentation (advantageous but not essential)
  • Good Communication skills
  • Able to work well in a team
  • Willing to learn
  • Strong problem solving and trouble shooting capabilities
  • Able to work safely in a hazardous environment
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions (indoor and outdoor)
  • Able to respond and handle emergencies in a calm, efficient manner
  • Good level of fitness and strength (to climb stairs and ladders, as well as work in confined spaces and at heights)
