Brown’s was founded in 1934 when a boutique jewellery store was opened by Larry Alon Brown and his late grandfather Jack Friedman. Today, the family business is still run by Larry Brown.

The Browns Learnership Academy was opened in 2012 and is the first practical jewellery training academy in South Africa. Browns realised that jewellery school graduates, due to their lack of practical working experience, were struggling to find permanent employment in the field, which is why the Learnership Academy wad founded. ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP

The programme is intended for students who have completed a jewellery qualification and would like to gain working experience in the industry.

Students will receive the best training and work experience needed to succeed within the jewellery industry, including learning about the stages of the jewellery manufacturing processes and the chance to specialise in a certain area.

Students will also receive a a monthly salary and those who complete the learnership programme will be offering full-time employment at the company.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • South African citizen
  • Under 30 years old
  • Completed Matric
  • Completed a jewellery qualification
  • Not currently employed
