ABOUT THE LEARNERSHIP

Anglo American Learnerships are available to students who wish to acquire practical training and a qualification to becoming a:

  • Diesel Mechanic
  • Electrician
  • Fitter
  • Instrumentation Mechanician
  • Plater

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Passed Mathematics and Physical Science in Matric OR completed a N2 Technical qualification with the following subjects:
    • Diesel Mechanic: Diesel Trade Theory, Engineering Drawings, Engineering Science, Mathematics
    • Electrician: Engineering Science, Electrical Theory, Industrial Electronics, Mathematics
    • Fitter: Engineering Drawing, Engineering Science, Fitting & Machining Trade Theory, Mathematics
    • Instrumentation Mechanician: Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Instrument Trade Theory, Mathematics
    • Plater: Engineering Science, Platers Theory, Plating & Structural Drawing, Mathematics
  • Good knowledge of Safety Systems, Regulations and Standards
  • Excellent safety record and regard for safety
  • In possession of a K53 provincial drivers license
  • Experience in the Mining Sector (advantageous but not essential)
  • Able to identify faults independently
  • Able to cope under pressure
  • Motivated and ambitious
  • Innovative
  • Willing to work shifts, call outs and on standby if required
  • Able to obtain a certificate of fitness
  • Prepared to undergo psychometric assessments
